Event Recap: Kpop in the Mix
This event was so far my favorite this year! I went with Kai from Stray Soulz again because she's so fun to be around. This time, we just commuted instead of getting a hotel like we did last month. I was hoping that commuting would allow me to actually make profit.
I left San Diego around 4am so I could pick up Kai. We drove to Vegas just before 6am. We arrived and got gas from Costco so we wouldn't have to worry about refilling after the event. Then we got drinks at Coffee Bean. I took a quick nap before I had my first sip because I was too anxious and didn't get any sleep at all the night before.
It was so windy in Vegas that day! We were on a quest to buy lunch and dinner before the event so we just let the wind take us because our first few choices were unavailable. Ultimately, we decided on In-N-Out for lunch and Raising Cane's for dinner.
We made it to Cafe 86 at the perfect time. The wind was stronger, but it was warm and comfortable inside. The event started before we knew it. During a lull, Tammi from Not Your Noona's shop gifted me with a cute Jiniret plushie! He even had a tail! I was so happy and soft at how cute it was!
During another lull, Kai and I went around to each vendor table to peruse their merch. I was personally on a mission to find something to spend money on because I wanted to enter the raffle. In the end, I decided to go for stickers - what a surprise, lol. I bought two sticker packs from Cypher Studios. Aren't they so cute?!
Finally, it was time to enter the raffle. It was so much fun! I was so surprised when they said I won a tote bag by Sibut Design. The tote bag was hand painted! I happily walked over to the artist and asked for a photo.
They were so sweet and so talented! I'm not a Carat, but I will cherish the tote bag. I was thinking of bringing it to events with me!
There was another lull so Kai and I played Fluxx. She was so happy to win her first victory since I taught her how to play the game last month. People started to trickle in again so we ended it at just one game.
In the middle of the event, we were all given vendor goodie bags with snacks and freebies. The hosts were a mother-daughter duo from Cruz Co-Op in collaboration with Not Your Usual Crafter. They were all so lovely and generous and it was so much fun chatting with them. Other vendors also handed out freebies throughout the event. I absolutely loved my time at the event surrounded by all the amazing hosts, vendors, and customers in my favorite cafe.
During the event, I sold out of the Dangsan Memo. It was so exciting when a couple people bought the Oat Milk or I'll Die vinyl sticker! My first sale of the day was for the Umm Great Memo for the new kpop group Kickflip. I was so surprised that someone bought the newest design! The bestsellers of the event, though, were the washi tapes, most specifically, the Matcha and Orange Plaid washi tapes. I was so pleased that people seemed to like them and kept buying them. And as always, I enjoyed watching people try to pull their bias from the lucky draws.
